First Day of 3rd Grade!

Hello Families!

----

Summary:
- What we did today
- Homework - All About Me Bag
- Parent papers in Home Folder

----

Wow! The first day is ALREADY over?! I can't believe it.

We had a fun day today! The class did very well with finding our room and starting their morning work this morning, and everyone remembered how they were getting home for dismissal!

Today we talked a lot about our feelings on the first day of school, and read the book "First Day Jitters" which the kiddos seemed to enjoy. They were all surprised to hear the ending - you'll have to ask them what happened!

In the afternoon we went over some classroom routines and even got a little silly while acting out ways to NOT enter the classroom in the morning. It was a fun time!

Today I shared an "All About Ms. Strong" bag to help the students get to know me a little better. Your student also has an All About Me bag to do to share with the class! They have directions in their Home Folder. These are to be brought back on Wednesday so we can share with the class Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please make sure not to send in things that NEED to be at home at night (ie: valuable pieces, favorite stuffed animals that cannot be missing at bedtime, etc.) You can see an example of my bag below - see how much your 3rd grader can remember and ask them to tell you about me from the picture! :)

Please also note that there are a few important papers in your child's Home Folder today. They were meant to go with your 1st Day Packet, but were not prepared when I sent those home at Open House.

I hope your kiddo had as much fun today as I did! I can't wait to see them all again tomorrow!

Smiles,
Ms. Strong :)

Get Ready!

Is everyone ECSTATIC about for the first day of school? I AM!

Please make sure to send in your student's "How Is My Child Getting Home" form tomorrow if you have not already! WE NEED THIS TO SEND THEM HOME TOMORROW! I would love to keep them all day, but... :)

Also, if you have completed any of your "first day packet" forms, my class directory or social media forms, or any other of the thousand papers you received for the start of the year, please send them in with your child as well.

Tomorrow we do not have gym, art, or any other "messy" specials, so wear you best 1st day of school outfit!

Get excited (and get good sleep)!

Smiles,
Ms. Strong :)

Welcome to Ms. Strong's 2016-2017 Class!

Hello and Welcome!

If you are reading this, you found Ms. Strong's class blog!

Before you read anything else, go ahead and bookmark or save this page on your computer, smart phone, or whatever device you typically use! This is my main form of communication to parents, so you'll want to remember this page! I have found that using a blog is much more convenient for both myself and parents so I am not constantly filling up your email inboxes!

However, if you are someone who likes email, or you would like to be notified via email when something new is posted on the blog, go ahead and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you enter your email address in the "Follow by Email" box. If you do this, you will receive an email any time I post something new on the blog! Sometimes this is a nice reminder to have.

--

Another way that I communicate with parents is via Remind. This is a messaging system that you can receive on your phone like a text message, or via email if you prefer. Phone numbers will NOT be shared, so it is safe and private. I use this for shorter messages or extra reminders such as "Don't forget: Field trip tomorrow! Pack a lunch!" and things such as that. (They will not be as wordy as my blog posts, don't worry.)

Sign up for Remind NOW at this link, or download the FREE app on your phone. If you do not have a smart phone or prefer text messages, you can sign up by texting this message: @strong3g to this number: 81010

Lastly, I do also have a class Twitter account where I post things like pictures of projects or activities going on in the classroom or fun activities happening at school. If you'd like to check out our tweets, follow us @ms_strong or click the link on the top of this page to the right!

Please also check out my Pinebrook Webpage. Here you can find more information about me, study guides, and our 3rd grade page with SOL review and games.

Tomorrow - August 24th - is our open house!
Be sure to stop by Room 29 (located in the front hallway, close to the Counselors' offices) to see your new room, meet me, and unpack some of those school supplies!
I can't wait to finally meet you all!

I hope you all enjoy the remaining days of summer. I'm looking forward to a great year in 3rd grade!

Smiles,
Ms. Strong :)
